With the slogan of “sunshine in winter warms you and me”, the Liangjiang New Area government launched a public-benefit activity on Jan 6 to help 118 children in the area realize their New Year’s wishes.

Earlier this month, volunteers organized by the Liangjiang New Area government toured around primary schools across the area and collected students’ New Year resolutions from more than 300 families in need. The interviewees were mainly poor children, disabled children, and stay-at-home children.

Six enterprises from Liangjiang New Area, including zhubajie.com.cn, Luster Light Tech Group, and Overseas Chinese Town Group, joined hands with the government to warm the local children in this cold winter.

“I’m so excited to get a new schoolbag!” Huang Zihan said with great joy. He said he had desired a new schoolbag for a long time, but he never asked his parents because he knew how difficult it was for his family to make enough money to get him one.

Meng Changqiong, a manager of an IT company from the Internet Industry Park, said, “We hope we can do something good to help these children and to make them happy with their realized New Year’s wishes.”

The event will attract more companies to join in and take care of more children in need living in remote areas of the city.
