News from the industrial promotion bureau of Liangjiang New Area on Sept 13 stated that six Liangjiang-based firms made the third list of national new and specialized little giant enterprises issued by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

The new area is currently home to 15 national and nine municipal new and specialized little giant enterprises, ranking first in Chongqing.

To be a national new and specialized little giant enterprise, a firm must not only be a leader in its sector in technology, but also must address weak links in China's core fields. In addition, main business revenue should account for more than 70 percent of total revenue, and it should have at least two valid invention patents or at least five patents in other areas, including exterior design and software copyrights.

Optolong Optics Co, one of six national little giant enterprises, for instance, is a major processing service provider of BOE Technology Group Co. Founded in the new area in 2014, Optolong Optics has responded proactively to Liangjiang's innovation-driven development work plan, and has intensify its investment in scientific research.

Both product yield and the complex processing capability index of the company are higher than the average in the industry, with productivity rising by 81 percent, operational costs lowered by 31.9 percent, and the product development cycle shortened by 30.7 percent, said one official at the firm.

Chongqing is currently home to 118 national and 659 municipal new and specialized little giant enterprises, and 3,011 companies have registered in Chongqing's cultivation database.
