Liangjiang New Area in Southwest China's Chongqing municipality saw a series of remarkable results over the past year. Here are some important facts and figures from 2021.

Over the past year, nearly 1,000 Party members from 30 teams participated in frontline work and fulfilled 65 social welfare items in the new area, as well as 749 items at the grassroots level.

Liangjiang joined with Chengdu Tianfu New Area to found eight industrial flagship alliances, in response to the central government's call for the construction of the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle.

The new area also realized coordinated development with Wanzhou district – also based in Chongqing – in establishing an industrial park and corporate research center.

Liangjiang, which takes scientific and technological innovation as its top priority, is currently home to over 40 research institutes, over 600 high-tech enterprises, over 3,000 technology-based firms and more than 6,000 digital economy corporations.

By implementing the chain chief system and promoting the construction of industrial function areas, Liangjiang registered a high-tech manufacturing output that accounts for 53 percent of its total industrial output, and has become China's fourth intelligent connected vehicle pilot zone.

Liangjiang had also become involved in the China-Singapore Connectivity initiative, with programs worth $10.75 billion signed.

During the same year, Sany (Chongqing) Intelligent Equipment Co's smart manufacturing production line and Chongqing BOE Optoelectronics Co's sixth-generation flexible active matrix organic light emitting diode (AMOLED) production line began operating in the new area.

About 96.6 percent of government services can now be dealt with in Yukuaiban – an official application launched by the Chongqing government.

The new area also strived to become a better place to live in, with the number of parks surging to 131. Meanwhile, it has become Chongqing's only pilot zone for the 15-minute community life circle.
