Over the past year, Liangjiang New Area in Southwest China's Chongqing municipality made new strides in welfare projects in a bid to boost locals' living standards.

The new area has seen the construction of several industrial areas, implemented the chain chief system, coordinated with Chengdu Tianfu New Area to launch the flagship alliance for eight major industries, and introduced 40 research institutions, injecting vitality to its technological innovation cause.

Liangjiang's support for assigned counties in rural areas is also noteworthy. It has boosted teaching faculty exchanges and helped rural villagers broaden sales channels for their special agricultural products.

The needs of the elderly have also been cared for in the new area, and communities have undergone reforms in services and facilities provided to the elderly in terms of hot water supply, necessities, and bathroom layout.

In terms of education, Liangjiang has taken the initiative to provide the free after-class services for students.

At the government service center of the new area, 210 government affairs involving starting businesses, social security and taxes can be handled in both Chongqing and Chengdu.
