Liangjiang New Area in Southwest China's Chongqing municipality reported one newly-recognized smart factory and 19 newly-recognized digitalized workshops, bringing the total number to 22 and 79, respectively, both the highest in Chongqing.

The newly-recognized smart factory is the Liangjiang Intelligent Factory of SERES, a NEV automaker partnering with HUAWEI. The industry 4.0-based factory consists of five workshops for stamping, welding, painting, assembly, and battery packs, where more than 1,000 highly automated robots are operating. The factory is fully automated and carries out 24-hour online inspection of key processes, which reduces labor costs and increases the precision of manufacturing.

The newly-recognized digitalized workshops focus on the auto industry, electronics industry, and bio-medical industry.

Chongqing Ping Wei Auto Science and Technology is a developer and manufacturer of auto parts and tooling. By upgrading both software and hardware, its mold workshop has full access to internet and uses an enterprise development software system. The workshop has realized digitalized management of the production process and transparent operation of the mold design and testing.

Chongqing plans to add 100 digitalized workshops and 10 smart factories in 2023. Liangjiang will intensify efforts in smart empowerment and further upgrade industrial development, as well as encourage companies to carry out digital transformation by providing comprehensive support, said Fan Yu, director of the Liangjiang New Area Industry Promotion Bureau.
