Yazaki, a Fortune Global 500 enterprise specializing in the production of instruments and automotive parts, established a location in Chongqing Liangjiang New Area. The location is expected to produce 950,000 units of auto parts with a revenue of 360 million yuan ($58 million) by the end of this year.
Yazaki is a global auto parts company headquartered in Tokyo, Japan, with European headquarters in Cologne, Germany and North American headquarters in Canton, Michigan. Its product lineup includes electrical cables, meters and auto instruments, gas equipment, air-conditioning, and solar-power. The group’s auto parts industry is among the top ten in the world.
The manager of Chongqing Yazaki Group says company’s predominate businesses are the production and sale of heavy trucks, commercial vehicles, passenger cars, and spare parts and dashboards. Some of its well-known customers include Toyota, Volvo, Mitsubishi, Isuzu, Great Wall and Qingling.
He added that the Chongqing Yazaki Company is now working on HED car dashboards and TFT color display to help drivers maneuver more safely and efficiently.
The auto industry in Liangjiang New Area accounts for 80 percent of Chongqing’s total car value. Liangjiang International Car City has built a three-engine plant, a transmission plant, two research and development centers, and more than 80 supporting enterprises, overall bringing in revenue of 116.4 billion yuan in 2013.
In the first five months of 2014, the automotive industries in Liangjiang New Area earned revenues of 84.62 billion yuan with an increase of 32.9 percent and produced 748,800 cars with an increase of 25.4 percent. It is expected that by the end of 2020, the annual car production capability will jump to 3 to 4 million units with annual revenue of 1.2 billion yuan.
