Recently, China’s Chongqing city beat Brazil to become host of the 25th International Porcine Veterinary Society Congress (IPVS) in 2018. This is the second world-level conference held in the region after the World Congress of Advanced Materials.

The International Porcine Veterinary Society Congress is held every two years in a different location. The China Institute of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine has applied for the conference’s host rights three times between 2004 and 2014.

Yuelai International Convention Center, in the Chongqing Liangjiang New Area, is a member of the International Congress and Convention Association and since 2013 has been preparing for the qualifications to host the IPVS with the China Institute of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine and the Chongqing Exhibition Office. On June 5, 2014, Chongqing won the hosting rights at the 23rd IPVS in Cancun, Mexico.

The 22nd IPVS held in Seoul, Korea involved nearly 4,000 experts and academicians from 60 countries. It is estimated that in 2018, the number of IPV participants in Chongqing will exceed 6,000. As a host, Chongqing will strengthen its international influence as well as promote its agriculture and animal husbandry industries.
