Accounts for the first Chinese credit card targeting Taiwan businessmen in the mainland have been opened by 38,000 people since the start of its release in Southwest China's Chongqing municipality at the beginning of this year, according to the information released by Chongqing Yijing Asset Management Ltd.

The release of the Taiwan-themed credit card is aimed at providing a better payment environment for Taiwan people. It is also aimed at offering convenience to mainland tourists visiting Taiwan.

After years of construction, Chongqing has established itself as a hub for Taiwan businessmen. The Bank of China chose Chongqing as an initial city to launch the credit card due to the number of Taiwan-invested enterprises in Chongqing and the growing number of business-oriented trips to Taiwan by Chongqing residents.

Xu Xinyong, vice chairman of the Taiwan Businessmen Association in Chongqing, said there are approximately 15,000 enterprises in Chongqing with received investment form Taiwan.

However, as businessmen from Taiwan have flocked to the municipality, they have faced monetary inconveniences in daily consumption.

To solve this problem, Xu initiated a credit card contains preferential policies relating to Taiwan. Aside from the basic payment function of the card, it also provides access to special discounts and services.

Pan Yong is a Taiwan resident who has lived and worked in Chongqing with his family for five years. According to Pan, compared with a regular credit card from the mainland, the Taiwan-themed card has a greater credit limit, enough to cover his whole family's spending. "Even when I am on business trips in foreign countries, I can still enjoy the most favorable rate," he added.
