Tencent (Chongqing) Makerspace opened in Liangjiang's Northern New District on Oct 24, according to the Liangjiang administrative committee.
Nine entrepreneurial teams will join the makerspace program, which aims to become one of the country’s top "Internet Plus" makerspaces to foster an entrepreneurial environment in Liangjiang.
The "Internet Plus" initiative was proposed by the national government in July to encourage the integration of the Internet with traditional sectors.

The first phase project of the Tencent (Chongqing) Makerspace occupies 10,000 square meters. It will open services platforms to entrepreneurs, including a mobile application exhibition center. According to an official of Liangjiang New Area, the makerspace aims to take advantage of resources in the Northern New District to provide comprehensive services to entrepreneurs.
Duan Chenggang, deputy director of the Liangjiang administrative committee, said that the Northern New District has been working on promoting the district's Internet industry in recent years.
According to the construction plan of the makerspace, more than 100 projects are expected to be introduced in addition to over 1,000 staff members by the end of 2017.
Statistics show that there are currently more than 5 million entrepreneurial application developers on the Tencent online platform.
