The second China International Logistic Expo kicked off in Chongqing on Nov 6, liangjiang.gov.cn reported.

The three-day expo attracted 238 companies from 13 countries. The exhibition area is divided into seven areas, including areas for ports and freight, smart logistics and e-commerce.

More than 8000 visitors have signed up for the event. Countries such as Germany, South Korea, Hungary, Bangladesh, Kazakhstan, and Poland sent delegations to visit Chongqing Bonded Goods Exhibition Center and West Logistics Parks.

Liangjiang New Area has a transportation network that combines railroads, water and airways. Many automobile companies signed up for the event.

Huang Ji, deputy general manager of Chongqing Port Logistics Group, noted that the group focused on railway-river combined transportation. Thanks to the railway net, Chongqing has a logistics net covering Yunnan, Guizhou and Sichuan. During the next five years, the group will expand its logistics network to cover north and west China. It will construct five ports with an annual handling capacity of 10 million tons.

The Lanzhou-Chongqing Railroad will be open by the end of next year. By then, the freight distance will be shortened from 1600 kilometers to 800 kilometers. Products from Lanzhou and Xi’an will be transferred at Chongqing before further transportation to the east coast.
