Three tons of folic acid were recently exported from Chongqing to the US, the liangjiang.gov.cn reported.

The Chongqing Cuntan Inspection and Quarantine Bureau completed the inspection of a shipment to the US of industrial folic acid weighing three tons, valued at more than $100,000.

The Cuntan bureau has adopted various measures to help companies explore the international market and export products smoothly. They actively collect and publicize the latest foreign trade policies of off-shore countries and regions to help businesses cope with technical barriers to trade.

At the same time, they help businesses establish and improve systems for raw material inspection, warehouse entry, production process quality control, finished product inspection, and product quality and traceability.

They also encourage enterprises to take on the main responsibility for product quality and safety and guide them through the US FDA or other countries’ inspection systems. In addition, they improve work efficiency with an innovative regulatory approach.

The Cuntan bureau has developed a regulatory approach based on centralized inspection by category as opposed to per batch inspection, which speeds up product release, as was the case with the recent folic acid inspection and shipment to the US.

Since last August, the Cuntan bureau has helped companies export 4.9 tons of folic acid, valued at $ 379,000, to Brazil, Ecuador, the United States and 11 other countries. By 2015, the bureau had processed a total of 744 cross-border e-commerce business transactions, an increase of 212.6% year-by-year, having a total value of 164 million yuan, an increase of 114.2% year-by-year.

Chongqing has recently set records for cross-border commercial activity in a variety of new product fields. For example, it has begun importing crystalline fructose from Israel and seaweed foods from Taiwan.

This year, both exports and imports of new food products through the Cuntan bonded port located in the Liangjiang New Area are increasing.

The increased trade in new products through the Chongqing bonded port area demonstrates the value and potential of the Chongqing port’s import and export procedures.
