Chongqing's largest experience center featuring virtual reality (VR), a technology allowing users to interact with a computer-simulated environment, opened in Yubei district on July 22.
Aerotropolis Daily reported that visitors can wear a pair of VR glasses and use a VR handset to manipulate the virtual environment. Advanced VR equipment provides visitors with more than 200 games including a roller coaster simulator and virtual space walker, giving them a diverse taste of VR technology.
The experience center was funded by Chongqing Dreamland Maker Technology, which is a leader in developing technology for augmented reality (AR) and VR in China. Dreamland Maker plans to open about ten VR experience centers in Chongqing with half located in Yubei district.
But Dreamland Maker is not limiting itself to these VR experience centers. The company is planning to build a VR theme park as well as provide VR tour guides through a mobile phone application. They hope to one day make VR experiences that are similar to massive events like Strawberry Music Festival or other outdoor festivals.
