The Affiliated Stomatological Hospital of Chongqing Medical University - also known as Chongqing Stomatological Hospital and previously called Shajia Dam Dental Depensary - was established in October 1943.
In July 2001, Chongqing Stomatological Hospital was established and incorporated into Chongqing Medical University - following the approval of the People's Government of Chongqing Municipality - and became officially known as the Affiliated Stomatological Hospital of Chongqing Medical University.
The hospital also set up a Department of Stomatological Medicine, and the Stomatology Medical School was founded in 2005.
The Affiliated Stomatological Hospital of Chongqing Medical University is a national first-class stomatological hospital, that combines healthcare services, medical education, scientific research - and it is also involved in preventive medicine initiatives. It also has three branch hospitals - Northern New Hospital, Shangqing Temple Hospital and Huangshui Rehabilitation Nursing Home - and two outpatient clinics: Shanan Street Outpatient Department and University Town Outpatient Department.
The hospital has 100 beds and 469 dental chairs, and various departments: Endodontics Department, Periodontics (Mucosa) Department, Maxillofacial Surgery Department, Prosthodontics Department, Orthodontics Department, Preventive Dentistry Department, Dental Implants Department, VIP Center, Medical Plastic and Cosmetic Center, Children's Dental Center, Teeth Cleaning Center, Cleft Lip and Palate Treatment Center and Member Center.
A total of 649 of its 721 employees are professionals - and the majority hold a master's degree or PhD, with 19 professors and 45 associate professors.
In addition, the Chongqing Society of Stomatology, Chongqing Hospital Management Institute and Chongqing Dental Clinical Medical Quality Control Center all have representatives in the hospital - and it is the only Oral Clinical Residents Standardization Training Base in Chongqing, offering top-quality care in the field of dentistry.
Chongqing Stomatological Hospital has also achieved remarkable success in scientific research and was involved over the last few years in a total of 103 scientific projects, including 3 that were supported by the National Science Foundation.
In the last 5 years, the hospital has won 6 awards for outstanding achievement, published 264 papers, co-edited 12 "national unified" textbooks and published academic monographs.
In addition, the Chongqing Education Board and Chongqing Health Bureau included the clinical science of stomatology as a key medical subject of the "eleventh five-year plan", the Chongqing Education Board approved the Stomatology Experiment Teaching Center as a Municipal Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center, and Chonqing Education Board included the hospital’s Stomatology major as a Major with Distinctive Features in Chongqing.
