A cloud news conference for the third Western China International Fair for Investment and Trade (WCIFIT) was held on May 18 in Liangjiang New Area, in Southwest China's Chongqing municipality. The conference released more details about the upcoming Asian Enterprises Convention, which is scheduled for May 21 and is an integral part of the fair.

It is the first time that the Asian Enterprises Convention is being held, and it aims to promote beneficial interactions between Asian companies and business communities. It will also boost Chongqing's opening-up and better serve China's development strategies.

Chongqing is honored to host the convention, which will showcase its strategic role in the county's western development drive, the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and the Yangtze River economic belt. It will also strengthen Chongqing's status as a highland for opening-up and an ecologic paradise.

Liangjiang New Area has been joining forces with foreign business, which can be best exemplified by the China-Singapore (Chongqing) Demonstration Initiative on Strategic Connectivity, which launched six years ago, according to Ren Yuan, deputy director of the Liangjiang New Area Free Trade Office.

By February 2021, Liangjiang had signed a total of 68 contract agreements through the program, collectively worth $11.6 billion.

Liangjiang advances China-Singapore cooperation in areas of finance, aerospace, logistics and telecommunication.

The frequency of air traffic between Chongqing and Singapore has increased, and supporting services such as aircraft maintenance and repair, air logistics and related training programs have been carried out.

New land-sea logistics channels have also been explored and added to the transportation landscape. Guoyuan port, the largest inland river logistics port in China and a landmark project for Chongqing's development as a Yangtze River upstream shipping center, has further enhanced its cargo collection capabilities.

In addition, the China-Singapore international data channel has been established, making it more convenient for Liangjiang to access overseas statistics.
