The 4th China International Import Expo, or CIIE, kicked off on Nov 5 in Shanghai. Liangjiang New Area has arranged for companies to participate in the event for the past four years in a row. Helping the expo to fulfill its potential, the new area will boost its efforts to link up with international markets, and accelerate its steps to integrate into the dual circulation development paradigm.
Chongqing Meilian International Warehouse & Transport Group Co, which has attended the expo three times, is exhibiting its products and latest achievements at the event's online exhibition area.
He Daoguo, general manager of the firm, said that the holding of the expo will help firm up his company's confidence to go overseas and to utilize the many business channels available in Liangjiang.
Liangjiang's exports and imports topped 211.9 billion yuan ($31.79 billion), up by 37.5 percent and accounting for more than 37 percent of Chongqing's total from January to September of 2021, and foreign investment utilized in the new area reached $2.2 billion, ranking first in Chongqing.
During the first three quarters of this year, Guoyuan port reported a total cargo throughput of 15.89 million metric tons and handled 329,000 containers originating from or destined for Chongqing, representing a year-on-year increase of 37 percent. Meanwhile, a total of 240 China-Europe freight trains, as well as 177 New Land-Sea Corridor freight trains were launched during the same period, up by 75.2 percent and 450 percent, respectively.
The time taken to send freight through Guoyuan port from Chongqing to ASEAN countries has been reduced from around 20 days to less than 10, saving over 1 million yuan in logistics costs for companies involved.
