In the first three quarters of this year, Liangjiang New Area in Southwest China's Chongqing municipality saw its total number of technology-based enterprises grow to 5,030.
Liangjiang has taken the initiative in Chongqing to set up cultivation libraries for technology-based and high-tech companies, respectively. About 1,000 technology-based companies have registered in the library since the beginning of this year.
So far, the new area has assembled 491 municipal R&D platforms, ranking first in the municipality, and has established 25 State-level research platforms and 45 makerspaces and incubators.
In July, the action plan for doubling the numbers of technology-based and high-tech companies in Liangjiang was issued.
According to the plan, by 2025, Liangjiang should be home to 1,350 high-tech companies and 7,000 technology-based enterprises, and the gross output of strategic emerging industries should account for at least 57 percent of the total output of industries above a designated size in Liangjiang.
