German industrial giant Continental AG recently inked a strategic collaboration agreement with the National Elite Institute of Engineering of Chongqing University, to jointly found a laboratory and boost Chongqing's automotive industry transformation and upgrading.
The two sides will foster intelligent connected vehicle (ICV) engineers with a global vision, and will strive for greater innovation in lab building, curriculum development and training bases.
Dr Thomas Meurers, the company's CTO in China, said that cultivating talent and founding new labs are important new milestones for Continental AG.
The company will deepen its cooperation in technology exchanges and innovation, talent cultivation, and project research in the software-defined vehicle era, he said.
Having set up its first businesses in China nearly 30 years ago, Continental AG established a research center in Chongqing in 2017. It also founded a software and systematic research (China) center in Chongqing in Liangjiang New Area in 2021, focusing on ICV software R&D.
So far, the center has gathered more than 600 researchers.
