On Dec 8, the China National Intellectual Property Administration approved Liangjiang New Area in Southwest China's Chongqing to become a pilot zone for the high-quality development of intellectual property (IP) services. It is the only area in Chongqing selected for this designation.

In recent years, Liangjiang New Area has attached great importance to IP work and deeply integrated it into its industrial, innovative, and open systems. Currently, the total number of valid invention patents in places directly administered by Liangjiang New Area has exceeded 7,500, with a year-on-year growth of about 36 percent.

By the end of 2022, the number of valid invention patents per 10,000 population in Liangjiang had reached 49, 2.7 times the city's average.

In response to the diversified service demands brought about by industrial innovation, Liangjiang New Area has accelerated the upgrading of the IP service industry, built a core carrier for IP services with an initial area of 11,000 square meters, and provided supporting preferential policies.

A complete service chain for IP agencies, legal services, information services, operations, finance, and consulting has been established. At the same time, the public service system for IP has gradually improved.
