On May 23, a delegation of mayors from Silicon Valley cities in the United States visited Liangjiang New Area, Southwest China's Chongqing municipality, for a study tour. They visited the Mingyue Lake Collaborative Innovation Pavilion and held discussions with technology companies and research institutions in the new area.
The delegation included Victor Wang, chairman of the China Silicon Valley Association, as well as mayors from the cities of Morgan Hill, Antioch, East Palo Alto, Oakley, San Carlos, and Saratoga in California.
Liangjiang New Area is the third oldest national-level development and opening-up new area in China, and its economic output ranks fourth among the 19 national-level new areas in China. Despite occupying less than 1.5 percent of Chongqing's area, it contributes about 15 percent of the municipality's economic output and 20 percent of its total industrial output above a designated size.

Victor Wang stated that Silicon Valley is not only the world's innovation hub, but also a gathering place for outstanding technology enterprise management talent. It is a fertile ground where finance and technology come together to create wealth, with capital, talent, and information flowing among universities, startups, and large corporations.
The China Silicon Valley Association will establish an information connectivity mechanism with Liangjiang, helping its enterprises expand into the U.S. market and providing market research and business matchmaking services.
The Silicon Valley mayors introduced the basic situations, investment environments, and supporting policies of their respective cities, expressed a desire to establish cooperative relations with Liangjiang, and welcomed enterprises of the new area to invest in and develop in Silicon Valley.
