Liangjiang New Area, in Southwest China's Chongqing municipality, has continued to advance the digitalization of environmental protection and green development.

The new area has established an integrated ecological data resource center, collecting 72 million data sets on the water, air, sound, solid waste, and environmental security environments.

Liangjiang also constructed a remote supervision system that automatically monitors key industries’ atmospheric pollutants, hazardous chemicals, and hazardous waste. This has resulted in a 75 percent increase in the detection rate of environmental issues and a nearly 60 percent improvement in the disposal rate.

As one of the first national pilot projects, Liangjiang has formed a "government-bank-enterprise" climate investment platform. There are currently 14,938 registered companies and 497 collected projects, with an estimated financing total of over 392 billion yuan ($54.9 billion), 50 signed projects, and 17.54 billion yuan financed.

The new area will continue digitizing environmental protection, advance the application and upgrade of extensive data systems, enhance digital management, and improve the modernization of ecological environment governance.
