Liangjiang New Area is exploring further cooperation with the Trade and Economic Multifunctional Platform for SCO Countries to support Chongqing in establishing itself as an inland open comprehensive hub, as reported by local media on Sept 11.
Hu Kaiqiang, director general of the platform, highlighted that by taking advantage of the area's strength in policy, location, industry, and innovation, both parties can make plans to establish an industrial park.
The initiative aims to create a comprehensive hub demonstration zone, encouraging high-quality market entities to register and set up operations in the industrial park. The goal is to build, strengthen, and supplement the industrial chains of Liangjiang's pillar and emerging industries, thereby constructing an internationally-collaborative innovation ecosystem, connecting SCO countries, and extending its influence globally.
The platform was established by the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Business Council, the Liangjiang New Area administrative committee, and the Chongqing Council for the Brand Development.
Since its inception in 2022, the platform has established 25 industry working committees covering over 10 industrial fields, including intelligent manufacturing, new energy, new materials, and information technology.
It has united more than 1,300 high-quality market entities involved in Chinese and international industrial chains, facilitating nearly 30 billion yuan ($4.22 billion) in outbound investment from Chongqing and attracting over 17.6 billion yuan in investment to Chongqing.
