On Dec 1, the final concrete was poured on the Huaiyuan River Double-Track Grand Bridge, marking the successful closure of the longest continuous beam bridge on the Chongqing section of the Chengdu-Chongqing middle line high-speed railway.
This milestone lays a solid foundation for the full operation of the line.
The Chengdu-Chongqing middle line high-speed railway starts at Chongqing North Station in Liangjiang New Area, passing through Yubei, Shapingba, Bishan, Tongliang, and Dazu districts in Chongqing, and Ziyang and Chengdu in Sichuan province, before reaching Chengdu Station. The main line spans 292 kilometers and is designed for speeds of up to 350 kilometers per hour.
The railway will connect with several existing and under-construction high-speed lines, including the Xi'an-Chengdu, Zhengzhou-Chongqing, Xining-Chengdu, Chengdu-Dazhou-Wanzhou, Xi'an-Chongqing, Chongqing-Kunming, and Chongqing-Wanzhou high-speed railways.
This will enhance the rail network in the Chengdu-Chongqing region, further reduce travel time between Chengdu and Chongqing, and significantly improve travel convenience for people living along the route.
