On Feb 5, Liangjiang New Area outlined ambitious plans for 2025 to accelerate the development of new quality productive forces and establish itself as a hub for advanced manufacturing.

The area will focus on building modern industrial clusters. It aims to complete 100 industrial projects by the end of April, with a total investment of 50 billion yuan ($6.86 billion). The goal is to drive a regional GDP growth of over 6 percent for the year.

The area also plans to support vehicle manufacturers like Changan and Seres in increasing production and renewing their offerings while enhancing the parts supply chain. The aim is to produce over 650,000 new energy vehicles this year.

Efforts will be made to transition the new display industry to automotive-grade applications, accelerate the development of the integrated circuit industry, and introduce new AI PC products. Authorities will nurture emerging industry clusters like the low-altitude economy, new energy storage, and biomedicine, aiming for a market size of over 10 billion yuan each. Forward-looking investments in synthetic biology and carbon nanotubes will also enhance the Mingyue Lake Sci-Tech Innovation Park.

The software and information services sector will be strengthened to nurture 50 "Star Enterprises" this year. The area will expedite the construction of Mashang Consumer Finance Co's headquarters to attract several tech-focused branches and AIC equity investment funds.

The port economy zone will be developed to ensure a 3 percent growth in total imports and exports. Specialized parks for instruments, testing, and inspection will be created, driving a 15 percent increase in revenue from productive service industries.
