Changan Auto and Tencent strengthen intelligent driving cooperation

In a significant move to advance intelligent driving technology, Changan Automobile and Tencent have signed an agreement to deepen their strategic partnership. The agreement focuses on data sharing and building a closed-loop data ecosystem. 

Intelligent transformation is key to Changan Automobile's strategic upgrade. The company launched its plan in 2018 and recently unveiled the 2.0 version, which emphasizes four major digital upgrades: smart products, smart operations, smart manufacturing, and smart ecosystems. 

Changan Automobile has invested 114.8 billion yuan ($15.72 billion) in intelligent technology, establishing a robust team of over 5,000 experts in electronics, software, and AI. Zhang Xiaoyu, Changan Automobile's vice-president, highlighted the benefits of this enhanced cooperation: "By deepening our partnership, we can efficiently aggregate data resources, unlock data value, and build a comprehensive data governance system. This will create a high-efficiency, scalable, real-time, and secure data platform.” 

Zhong Xiangping, vice-president of Tencent, emphasized the longstanding and close partnership between the two companies: "Tencent will continue to use its cloud and mapping technologies to support Changan Automobile in exploring innovative technological models.”

Since establishing the partnership in 2017, Changan Automobile and Tencent have achieved cross-sector advancements in smart cockpits, intelligent driving, navigation and mapping, overseas ecosystems, and enterprise digital transformation.

Their joint venture, Phoenix Auto Intelligence, is a pioneer in China's AI cockpit sector. The company has invested over 1.6 billion yuan in research and development and filed more than 500 patents, including over 100 in crucial areas such as AI, big data, and operating systems.
