Liangjiang New Area in Chongqing experienced a significant boost in cultural tourism during the May Day holiday, offering a rich array of immersive experiences that seamlessly blended nature, culture, and industry.
The holiday period was marked by a variety of activities, including breathtaking aerial city tours, debut exhibitions of popular intellectual properties, and mesmerizing drone shows that lit up the night sky.
By 6 pm on May 5, data revealed that five major commercial centers had welcomed a combined total of 230,000 visitors, generating more than 19 million yuan ($2.63 million) in sales.
Meanwhile, Chongqing Happy Valley and Chongqing Garden Expo, two prominent scenic spots, attracted 272,200 visitors, with tourism revenue surpassing 20 million yuan, a 37.2-percent increase compared to the previous year.
The Citizen Music Festival ventured into parks and industrial zones for the first time, transforming urban leisure with its innovative "music + nature" concept.
Additionally, the implementation of a departure tax refund policy significantly boosted foreign tourists' enthusiasm for shopping, launching a "tourism + shopping" model. Products such as trendy sportswear and bags were particularly popular.
