Liangjiang New Area has experienced significant growth in its new energy and high-end intelligent equipment industries during the first quarter of this year, recording a year-on-year increase of 14.16 percent.
The new energy and storage sectors saw an impressive year-on-year growth of 41.1 percent, while the intelligent equipment and smart manufacturing sectors expanded by 19.65 percent.
A standout achievement is the Hitachi Energy Global Transformer Intelligent Manufacturing Base, which reported an output value of approximately 630 million yuan ($87.21 million) in the first quarter, a year-on-year increase of about 40 percent.
This facility specializes in designing and producing power transformers, reactors, high-voltage direct current (HVDC) converter transformers, and ultra-high voltage (UHV) AC transformers. Its annual production capacity exceeds 60,000 megavolt-amperes.
Chongqing Cummins Engine Co has also solidified its position as a leader in high-power intelligent manufacturing in China, achieving an output value of 1.34 billion yuan in the first quarter, a 29 percent year-on-year growth.
Liangjiang has also made progress in central-local cooperation, securing three new central enterprise projects in the first quarter with a total investment of 1.22 billion yuan.
The area has established a comprehensive industrial framework of "energy + equipment + materials", encompassing more than 100 enterprises of designated size. The intelligent equipment and smart manufacturing industry has attracted over 60 key enterprises, fostering the development of several niche sectors.
