Chongqing is developing modern manufacturing clusters and promoting the integration of technological and industrial innovation. This is part of a broader effort to accelerate the transformation of manufacturing towards high-end, intelligent, and green development.

The Seres Super Factory in Liangjiang New Area, Chongqing, is a testament to the city's commitment to advanced manufacturing. With over 3,000 robots working in harmony, key processes at the factory have achieved 100 percent automation. This innovation has enhanced product value, as evidenced by Seres' impressive sales of 427,000 new energy vehicles in 2024, a 182.8 percent year-on-year increase.

In 2024, the industrial output value of Chongqing's enterprises above the designated size increased by 7.3 percent. The added value of strategic emerging industries increased by 12.3 percent, accounting for 34.6 percent of the city's total industrial output value.

A remarkable Chongqing innovation is its high-strength, shatter-resistant glass, developed by ATG Special Glass Co. This glass, at 0.55 millimeters thick, is comparable to a cicada's wing in thickness yet can withstand a pressure of 743 kilograms per square millimeter.

Chongqing has nurtured 310 national-level "little giant" enterprises specializing in niche sectors and 41 manufacturing champion enterprises. The city has introduced policy measures to reform the manufacturing sector, offering differentiated resource allocation policies across seven areas, including energy, land use, and finance.

Chongqing's government services are also being enhanced, with authorities launching a platform that provides nearly 60,000 customized services to enterprises.

The city has set a new target: by 2027, its total industrial output value is expected to reach 4 trillion yuan ($555.88 billion), with manufacturing's share of GDP rising to 28 percent.
