Changan Automobile has commenced production at its Rayong plant in Thailand, establishing its first overseas manufacturing base for new energy vehicles (NEVs). This marks the first time NEVs from Liangjiang New Area have been produced in Thailand.

Equipped with advanced technologies, the Rayong plant features five intelligent workshops focusing on welding, painting, final assembly, engine, and batteries. With a 90 percent automation rate at key quality control stations, the plant enhances efficiency and reduces energy consumption per vehicle.

The plant's digital infrastructure and cloud-based microservice architecture enable full online operational management and real-time manufacturing process scheduling, reducing the order delivery cycle from 21 days to 15 days. Changan is setting up seven application capability centers to boost manufacturing efficiency by 20 percent.

Initially, the plant will produce 100,000 vehicles annually, with plans to expand to 200,000 vehicles in the second phase, targeting right-side driving markets such as Thailand, Australia, and New Zealand. On the launch day, May 16, a right-side driving version of the Deep Blue S05 was delivered, marking Changan's 28,590,000th vehicle.

Chairman Zhu Huarong reaffirmed Changan's “In Thailand For Thailand” commitment, announcing plans to introduce 12 NEV products over the next three years. The company will also establish a global right-side driving spare parts center in Thailand and upgrade its digital service platform for enhanced vehicle control and diagnostics.

Changan has nine KD assembly centers globally, with overseas sales reaching 536,000 units last year, a 49.6 percent increase. The company aims to expand its KD projects in countries like Kazakhstan and Egypt, targeting a total overseas production capacity of 500,000 vehicles.
