Liangjiang New Area secured five cooperation projects with Singapore at the 10th meeting of the China-Singapore Connectivity Project Joint Implementation Committee on June 3. These span sectors including logistics, finance, energy, and healthcare.
The China-Singapore (Chongqing) Demonstration Initiative on Strategic Connectivity also marks its 10th anniversary this year. As a core vehicle of the initiative, Liangjiang has secured 81 China-Singapore cooperation projects, totaling $11.01 billion in investment.
China-Singapore (Chongqing) Multimodal Transport & Logistic Development Co and Singapore's YCH Group will collaborate on overseas warehouse development. Using the China-Singapore Chongqing Multimodal Transportation Demonstration Base and YCH Group's logistics hubs in Singapore and ASEAN, the partnership will deepen cooperation in container yards, warehouse management, cargo consolidation, logistics corridors, and shared overseas warehouses. This will upgrade regional infrastructure and boost Chongqing's exports to Southeast Asia.
The China-Singapore Chongqing Multimodal Transportation Demonstration Base, launched in June 2022, integrates Singapore's logistics expertise with key trade routes, including the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor and the Yangtze River Golden Waterway, to enhance international collaboration and cargo operation efficiency.
The base had handled more than 7,300 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units) by the end of 2024, with cargo value reaching 4.1 billion yuan, increases of 37 percent and 150 percent, respectively, from the previous year.
Chongqing Bonded Port Area Development & Management Group Co will partner with Singapore's SP Group to develop the China-Singapore (Chongqing) Green and Low-Carbon Industrial Park, which will introduce Singaporean investment in centralized cooling and heating systems, green electricity, and digitalized energy management.
Raffles Hospital and the First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University also reached cooperation intentions in key clinical department development, two-way recruitment of senior professionals, and international academic exchanges.
Deng Ke, director of Liangjiang modern service industry bureau, said that these projects will deepen cooperation between Liangjiang and Singapore, facilitating trade connectivity and fueling Chongqing's growth as an inland hub.
