Longxing Soccer Stadium in Liangjiang New Area hosted the Asian Zone Round of 18 World Cup Qualifiers on June 10, where the Chinese national men's soccer team claimed a 1-0 victory over Bahrain, courtesy of a decisive penalty kick.
This match was significant as it marked China's final game in this World Cup qualifying campaign and the first international soccer event held at the stadium.
The game remained goalless until the 89th minute, when a pivotal cross from the right flank resulted in a handball by a Bahraini defender inside the penalty area.
Following a VAR review, the referee awarded a penalty to China. Wang Yudong converted, securing the narrow 1-0 win for the home team.
