Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport has seen a significant rise in border traffic this year. By June 10, the airport had processed over 1 million inbound and outbound travelers, a 37 percent increase from last year, reaching this milestone 46 days earlier.
Foreign nationals made up over 30 percent of this traffic, setting a new record.
This growth is largely attributed to China's expanding visa-free policies, the continuous refinement of entry procedures for foreign nationals, and the relaxation of the 240-hour visa-free transit policy.
These favorable policies have attracted international attention, with Chongqing's unique urban appeal and cultural tourism drawing domestic and international visitors.
Italian traveler Bozzini Mercedes highlighted the benefits of the 240-hour visa-free transit policy, saying it allows for spontaneous travel without the hassle of visa applications.
Tunisian business traveler Ben Moussa Mohamed Yassine expressed excitement about potential tech collaborations, noting his unforgettable first impression of China.
The Chongqing Border Inspection Station has processed over 560,000 entries and exits, with the top destinations for outbound mainland residents including Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, and Italy.
To facilitate foreign visits, the station has enhanced coordination with Jiangbei Airport and other units, established dedicated areas for visa-free transit applications, and optimized temporary entry permit processes. An inspection model and "arrive and disembark" measures have been implemented for international flights.
An online system offers entry card completion and a "one-stop nationwide clearance" service. A 24/7 hotline (12367) provides immigration consultation in multiple languages. The station also enhances traffic monitoring and adjusts police deployment to ensure smooth border crossings.
For major events such as the Western China International Fair and the Asian Qualifiers for the World Cup, the station refined its clearance support plans to ensure efficient services for foreign delegations and teams.
