Liangjiang: An emerging smart medical equipment hub

Chongqing Liangjiang New Area has demonstrated robust growth in its life and health industries in the first half of this year, particularly in the smart medical equipment sector.

The area has experienced a 6.9 percent year-on-year growth in its medical device sector. Products are making significant progress worldwide, with the ultrasound tumor treatment system entering Uruguay for the first time.

The area is now home to 148 smart medical equipment enterprises and has established a complete industrial chain in ultrasonic tumor treatment systems, hemodialysis, and diagnostic reagents.

These enterprises have developed a range of core technologies and flagship products in key areas such as in vitro diagnostics, high-value consumables, and medical equipment.

The SWS Blood Purification Industrial Park houses a research and development center that covers the field's entire industry chain. It is expected to be operational by the end of the year, with an annual output value of approximately 3 billion yuan ($417.73 million).

These remarkable achievements can be largely attributed to the authorities' strong policy support, expedited approvals, and high-level facilities. These factors have made it an attractive location for high-quality enterprises nationwide.

The area's Dadi Industrial Park has gathered over 80 tech-innovative enterprises, more than 50 high-tech enterprises, and over 20 "little giant" enterprises, making it the most dynamic park for life health enterprises.

Liangjiang plans to establish a smart medical equipment industrial base, emphasizing collaboration among production, academia, research, and medicine, and integrating R&D, clinical trials, production, inspection registration, and distribution.
