The 2025 Mingyue Lake Intellectual Property Forum took place on Sept 26 in Liangjiang New Area.
The forum was attended by prominent figures, including Xiao Xingwei, director of the National Intellectual Property Administration (NIPA) Expert Advisory Committee; He Dawei, director of the Chongqing Intellectual Property Office; and Lin Wei, vice-president of Southwest University of Political Science and Law.
Xiao expressed NIPA's commitment to supporting Chongqing and Liangjiang in IP system innovation, platform building, and international collaboration, aiming to establish a globally connected IP hub in western China.
He Dawei encouraged Chongqing to utilize this forum to explore innovative practices in IP administrative protection, judicial coordination, financial services, and technology transfer, providing a model for national IP development.
Lin emphasized the urgent need to cultivate a robust IP legal talent pool and outlined the university's strategy to drive disciplinary transformation through legal technology and technology law, with IP playing a crucial role.
Zhang Li, deputy director of the Liangjiang New Area administrative committee, said the area is committed to driving industrial upgrades through innovation and empowering regional development with IP.
A key highlight of the event was the unveiling of the Chongqing Liangjiang New Area Intellectual Property Innovation Industrial Park. Initial agreements were signed with prominent firms such as Liu Shen & Associates and China Patent Agent (Hong Kong), marking the park's first wave of intended occupants.
