Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport has achieved a significant milestone in 2025, with its cargo and mail throughput surpassing 400,000 metric tons, reaching this target 25 days earlier than last year.
In September alone, the airport handled 52,400 tons of cargo and mail, a 31.96 percent year-on-year increase.
The airport operates 15 international (regional) cargo routes with 51 flights per week, establishing a logistics corridor that connects Chongqing with Europe, Asia, and North America.
The airport plans to further enhance its logistics connectivity by launching and increasing the frequency of flights to Budapest, Frankfurt, Liège, and Hong Kong.
The airport has increased its focus on emerging export sources such as cross-border e-commerce, automotive parts, and pharmaceuticals. As of Oct 16, the airport's international (regional) cargo volume reached 124,600 tons, a 1.8 percent increase year-on-year.
The airport has partnered with airlines such as Hainan Airlines, China Southern Airlines, and Atlas Air to develop international air-to-air transfer routes. By September, international and domestic air-to-air transfer volumes at the airport had risen by 81.9 percent and 17.4 percent, respectively.
