Chongqing hosted an event on Feb 6 to highlight advancements in the low-altitude sector, unveiling key projects and initiatives set to launch in Liangjiang New Area.
Among them, Chongqing Low-Altitude Economy Industry Development Co will focus on low-altitude flight management, service platform construction, infrastructure investment and operation, and public service scenarios.
Projects funded by units under the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation will concentrate on developing and manufacturing low-altitude aircraft.
Shanghai Autoflight Co plans to establish its Southwest Headquarters in Liangjiang, aiming to build a robust low-altitude economic ecosystem and elevate the industry to new heights.
The event also featured the release of the "Chongqing Low-Altitude Industry Chain Product Catalog (2025 Edition)", including products from 35 companies in the city. The catalog spans categories from complete low-altitude aircraft, flight power equipment, components, control platforms, and support equipment.
Nineteen of these companies are from Liangjiang, which showcased its innovative use of drones in urban governance by introducing a model that offers integrated network control, multi-flight capabilities, and versatile applications. The model has reported over 2,900 incidents, achieving complete management of the "perception-decision-action-feedback".
The event also announced the launch of a 2 billion yuan ($289.43 million) industrial fund aimed at investing in aerospace information and low-altitude economy sectors.
The first "Chongqing-made" eVTOL, developed by the China Academy of Space Electronics Technology, completed its inaugural public flight demonstration. This versatile low-altitude aircraft integrates both aviation and automotive functions, enabling seamless land-air travel transitions and earning it the description of "space-grade building blocks".
