Liangjiang's IP initiatives bear fruit

Liangjiang New Area has been designated as a National Intellectual Property (IP) Demonstration Zone, highlighting the area's robust IP capabilities, with 13 local companies, including Seres Automotive, Sevnce Robotics, and Deepal Automotive, honored as leading IP enterprises.

The area is home to more than 680 IP service institutions, comprising 119 patent agencies, 488 trademark agencies, and over 70 other IP operational entities, accounting for 60 percent of Chongqing's patent agencies and over 50 percent of its trademark agencies.

The area's Jiangbei IP Operation Platform and Mingyue Lake IP Operation Center have become operational, introducing the city's first IP securitization product. IP pledge financing is projected to exceed 2 billion yuan ($289 million) by 2025.

National-level public service platforms have been established in Liangjiang, including the Automobile and Motorcycle Quick Maintenance Center and the National Patent Navigation Base.

Liangjiang has hosted the influential Mingyue Lake Forum on IP for two consecutive years and organized Chongqing's first IP service industry skills competition. The area has developed training programs with universities such as Southwest University of Political Science and Law and Tongji University to cultivate professional IP service talent.

Liangjiang filed over 11,000 new patent applications and obtained nearly 4,000 new invention patents in 2025, bringing the total to 21,798 valid invention patents, including 9,966 high-value patents.

Authorities will focus on strengthening capabilities in operations, finance, and legal services by guiding institutions to expand service models and improve the value chain. Efforts will continue to optimize the business environment, enhance public service platforms, and reinforce talent incentive policies, with greater support for professional talent development in areas such as title evaluation and skills enhancement.

The area will concentrate on key industries, particularly intelligent connected new energy vehicles, by building industrial IP innovation consortia and national-level operation platforms to cultivate high-value patents and patent-intensive products.

Liangjiang will advance IP financial innovation, deepen the integration of "credit + IP" applications, promote the upgrading of securitization products, and explore comprehensive financial solutions centered around IP to drive industrial innovation and growth.
