Chongqing women's half marathon to kick off

The Chongqing Women's Half Marathon 2026 will kick off on March 29 in Liangjiang New Area, bringing together more than 33,000 female runners from across the globe, including 15,000 professional athletes.

Participants will compete for a range of awards, including overall rankings, age-group categories, and team prizes. More than 200 runners will be recognized, with the top individual award reaching an impressive 48,000 yuan ($6,973).

The marathon course offers a scenic journey, guiding runners past nine of Chongqing's iconic bridges and landmarks, including Xu Beihong's Former Residence.

With an average altitude of 198 meters and a total elevation gain of just 35 meters, participants can enjoy a smooth race while soaking in Chongqing's breathtaking landscapes and vibrant urban atmosphere.

Runners will also enjoy discounted access to A-grade tourist attractions such as Happy Valley, Jihua Park, and Liangjiang Movie City, as well as special rates at over 10 premium hotels, including Jinyuan Grand Hotel and Liangjiang Holiday Inn.

Themed tourism routes such as the "Riverside Fashion Line" and "Cultural Exploration Line" will be available, enabling participants and visitors to explore Liangjiang in depth after the race.

Additionally, authorities will host a fashion show featuring the latest styles and celebrating women's achievements.
