The seventh World Endoscopy Organization Capsule Endoscopy Global Summit (WEO-CEGS 2026) will be held on March 21 in Chongqing Liangjiang New Area, promising to unveil groundbreaking advances in capsule endoscopy, artificial intelligence (AI), and robotics for the diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal diseases.

The event will bring together leading experts in digestive health from around the world, with thousands expected to participate both in person and via global online streaming.

The summit will focus on AI in clinical practice, the standardization and dissemination of emerging technologies, and future directions in the field. Key figures such as Professor Lars Aabakken, WEO president; Professor Jin Zhendong, chairman of the Chinese Society of Digestive Endoscopy; and Professor Zhang Shutian, president of the Chinese Medical Doctor Association, will chair the event.

International and domestic experts will exchange insights through academic abstract evaluations, invited lectures, panel discussions, and interactive Q&A sessions, showcasing cutting-edge clinical insights, research achievements, and prospects in capsule endoscopy.

Chongqing is the birthplace of capsule endoscopy technology in China, having developed the world's first automated navigation capsule endoscopy robot and the country's first AI-assisted image reading software, both certified by the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) as Class III medical devices.

Capsule endoscopy's non-invasive, painless, and anesthesia-free approach, covering the entire digestive tract, combined with AI-enhanced diagnostic capabilities, makes it ideal for large-scale population screening, improving early detection rates of cancerous and other pathological changes.
