Chongqing strengthens IP efforts to boost auto enterprises' global reach

A salon focusing on harnessing the power of intellectual property (IP) to support the global expansion of Chongqing-made automobiles was held in Liangjiang New Area on April 21, bringing together representatives from relevant departments and automotive enterprises as well as industry experts to explore strategies for entering international markets.

He Peiyu, deputy director of the Chongqing Intellectual Property Office, emphasized how a new government-business communication platform aimed at enhancing overseas IP risk warning and prevention systems, particularly in key export markets, demonstrates authorities' commitment to addressing industry and enterprise needs.

Professor Deng Hongguang from the Southwest University of Political Science and Law shared insights on successful patent pool cases and strategies for developing a patent pool for the automotive industry

Nie Ying, a senior partner at Tahota Law Firm in Chongqing, provided an overview of the current state of IP protection in Europe and highlighted key risk control points.

Lan Yuhong, a PhD graduate from the National University of Singapore, discussed IP protection and risk management strategies for the ASEAN market, emphasizing that intellectual property remains a powerful tool in business competition, and advised companies to be vigilant about external threats, not to underestimate small patents, and to be aware of hidden protections.

Representatives from Changan Automobile, Seres Automotive, and Lifan Technology discussed issues such as patent circumvention, supply chain compliance, trademark protection, and policy support with experts.

Lu Mingyuan, director of Liangjiang intellectual property office, said that the office will align with high-standard international trade rules, improve the foreign-related IP protection system, and strengthen the overseas dispute resolution guidance sub-center.
