SAIC Hongyan, based in Liangjiang New Area, has signed an agreement to export 1,000 new energy heavy-duty trucks to a major port client in Thailand.

The first batch of these vehicles has been assembled and is currently en route to Thailand, marking a new record for the largest single export of new energy heavy-duty trucks from China to a Southeast Asian port.

Thailand, a central hub for maritime logistics in Southeast Asia, presents a substantial opportunity for green electric heavy-duty trucks due to its ongoing implementation of carbon reduction and new energy freight policies.

These exported vehicles are built on SAIC Hongyan's self-developed AILink smart electric architecture and are equipped with custom CATL batteries, delivering a peak power of 530 kilowatts.

Designed for high-frequency and short-haul port container transfer, they can achieve over 12 percent energy savings, significantly reducing operational costs.

The modular architecture of these trucks also allows for quick adaptation to various specialized vehicles, including port tractors and in-yard transfer vehicles, providing an integrated green logistics solution encompassing vehicles, charging infrastructure, and maintenance services.

A SAIC Hongyan representative said that the company aims to set a benchmark for green transportation transformation among Southeast Asian countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative.

The trucks offer a balance of performance, cost, and after-sales service, facilitating rapid replication in Southeast Asian port markets such as Vietnam, Malaysia, and Indonesia, thereby supporting regional carbon neutrality goals.

SAIC Hongyan plans to refine its third-generation new energy truck products, optimizing them for the high temperatures, heavy rainfall, and heavy-load conditions typical of Southeast Asia.

The company will also enhance its overseas charging, maintenance, and spare parts ecosystem to bolster the international competitiveness of China’s new energy vehicles.
