A new international standard, ITU-T F.749.20, titled "Requirements for a Head-up Display Interface for Intelligent Vehicles" and led by Changan Automobile, has been released by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).
Head-Up Displays (HUDs) have evolved from basic displays of speed and navigation into essential interfaces that connect drivers with vehicle status and road conditions. However, the increasing complexity and volume of information on HUDs have introduced challenges, including unclear information hierarchies, a lack of focus, and difficulty identifying key data in complex environments.
Changan Automobile has led the development of the ITU-T F.749.20 standard over the past three years, submitting seven proposals to refine its final form. The company's human factors engineering laboratory conducted extensive testing using eye-tracking, EEG, and GSR equipment to simulate various driving scenarios, including high-speed travel, urban roads, and tunnel navigation.
The research findings have been implemented in key models, such as the Changan Qiyuan A07, Qiyuan A06, and Deepal S05. By optimizing information layout, display hierarchy, and readability in complex scenarios, this new standard enables drivers to access critical information — such as speed, navigation, and safety alerts — more effectively, thereby enhancing both safety and overall user experience.
This achievement marks the third international standard that Changan Automobile has either led or been involved in, highlighting the growing influence of "Chongqing-made" intelligent connected new energy vehicles in global standard-setting.
Changan played a pivotal role in the release of the world's first unified technical regulation for Automated Driving Systems (ADS GTR) on June 25. Furthermore, on July 15, the company led the development of the "System Framework and Functional Requirements for In-Vehicle Multimodal Voice Interaction", closing a global gap in standards for in-car multimodal voice interaction.
