Southwest China's Chongqing Municipality near Sichuan province says it will put greater effort into e-commerce in 2016 to get its online sales to reach 80-billion yuan ($12.16 billion) and its e-commerce business transactions to reach 850 billion yuan,
To do this it will stick to the "Internet plus trade" strategy, to make full use of its consumer potential, stimulate local markets and increase job opportunities.
It will also put emphasis on e-commerce in rural areas surrounding it and establish a better service system in operations, management, logistics, and training to help the city gain more from e-commerce.
It will combine online-offline sales for development and encourage more traditional businesses, such as agriculture, exhibitions, accommodation, catering, drugs and liquor to go online.
