Southwest China's Chongqing municipality recently launched a two-step customs declaration service for the first time in cargo transportation along the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor.
The two-step customs declaration involves a summary declaration and complete declaration. When the cargo requires no inspection, taxes and certifications, only nine items are required to declare it. The complete declaration can be finished in 14 days after the shipment enters the country.
The simplified declaration cuts the time of material preparation and customs clearance for companies from three days to half a day, improving the customs clearance efficiency at Chongqing's ports and promoting the construction of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor.
A batch of cargo recently delivered from Vietnam to Chongqing benefited from the two-step declaration: Only nine items were declared, and the shipment was transferred to a China Railway Express train bound for Germany.
During the first 11 months of this year, 1,017 freight trains operated along the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor, increasing 25 percent year-on-year.
In the future, Chongqing customs will keep innovating services, optimizing customs supervision and improving customs clearance efficiency.
