An R&D and service center of Macro New Communication Co and a new campus of Chongqing Aerospace Polytechnic started construction in Chongqing Liangjiang Cooperative Zone on Dec 15.
Based in Liangjiang, Macro New Communication Co focuses on developing low-orbit satellite mobile communication and space-based internet. Its R&D and service center will cover an area of 163 mu (10.87 hectares) with an investment of 1.35 billion yuan ($206.57 million).
When put into use, it will become an industrial park specializing in R&D, the testing of core chips, general modules and terminal products, as well as application system integration, business operation and personnel training functions.
Meanwhile, Chongqing Aerospace Polytechnic is a public higher vocational college operated by the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation. The construction of its new campus highlights Liangjiang's efforts in exploring aerospace cooperation with Chengdu city.
The new campus will have a total investment of 2 billion yuan and be constructed in two stages over five years. Once operational, it will have 37 majors and become a key platform for training technical talents and promoting applied technologies.
The construction of the two projects will accelerate the aerospace industry's development in Liangjiang, and Liangjiang will provide supporting policies and services to help the projects go into operation as soon as possible.
