The Chongqing Aviation and Aerospace Technology Promotion Research Institute was unveiled in the Liangjiang New Area – located in Southwest China's Chongqing municipality – on Dec 14.
Lin Zhongqin, president of Shanghai Jiao Tong University and academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, and Luo Lin, director of Liangjiang's administrative committee, took part in the event.
Lin highlighted the close partnership between the university and the new area, with two research centers built – the Shanghai Jiaotong University Chongqing Near Space Innovation R&D Center and the Chongqing Research Institute of Shanghai Jiaotong University.
The newly launched research institution in aerospace and aviation is another major program in the strategic cooperation of the two, which is seen as being an innovation in terms of its operation mechanism and being important for cultivating a first-class research team.
According to Luo, Liangjiang is bullish about the deepening partnership with the university. It is expected that the new area will provide a top-flight research environment and government services.
