On Sept 15, the trial operation ceremony of Panzhihua (Guoyuan) Land Port was held in Panzhihua city, Southwest China's Sichuan province. Guoyuan Port, based in Liangjiang New Area, Southwest China's Chongqing municipality, and Panzhihua signed a strategic agreement to develop the land port together.
According to the agreement, the two sides will utilize their respective resources to jointly develop and utilize the Yangtze River Golden Waterway. They will work together to build a container land port brand and further extend the multimodal transport capabilities of Guoyuan Port to Panzhihua and other inland areas.
The land port is expected to extend Guoyuan Port's international freight forwarding, customs supervision yard, bonded warehousing, and more to inland central cities. It will also allow Panzhihua to enjoy fast and convenient cross-regional customs clearance services. With the support of road and railway transportation, seamless connections between land ports and other ports can be achieved, effectively reducing logistics costs and promoting the development of foreign trade.
With the continuous development of the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle, Guoyuan Port's leading role in the upstream Yangtze River is increasing. In 2021, a land port was established in Chengdu's Longquanyi district, and from January to August, a total of 2,159 train trips were operated by the port, with 3,782 TEUs of containers transported.
