By the end of September, Chonqing had shipped 40,369 containers to Vietnam via the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor, worth 7.87 billion yuan ($1.1 billion), and launched 10,125 cross-border road trips to Vietnam, with total cargo valued at more than 7.5 billion yuan.
Vietnam has become the ASEAN country with the largest cargo shipping volume through the corridor.
The rail-sea freight train corridor continued operating smoothly even during the pandemic, ensuring the stable supply of all industrial spare parts.
"In the past, cargo produced in inland areas, including Chongqing, usually reached Hai Phong Port through river-ocean combined transportation, which takes 20 to 25 days for a single trip. But after the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor opened, rail-sea shipping has become available, and goods arrive at the Hai Phong Port within a week after departure," said Jiang Zijian, manager of SITC Line Vietnam Co's market department.
The company now has a container storage yard of over 240,000 square meters – the biggest at the port.
In addition, Vietnam is striving to develop its semiconductor and other electronic industries, making Jiang confident that more Chongqing-based companies will invest in Vietnam, bringing both China and Vietnam more development opportunities.
