Action plan enables Chongqing's smart equipment and manufacturing development

Southwest China's Chongqing municipality recently released its action plan to facilitate the high-quality development of its smart equipment and smart manufacturing sectors from 2023 to 2027.

The plan stipulates that by 2027, Chongqing's smart equipment and smart manufacturing businesses are to generate over 500 billion yuan ($69.65 billion) in revenue and corporate R&D intensity is to grow to 3.5 percent.

By then, more than 300 major technology and equipment products should be developed, and the key process numerical control rate should reach about 65 percent in Chongqing.

The municipality will also build a "356" smart equipment and smart manufacturing industrial system featuring three pillar industries – smart manufacturing equipment, mountain agricultural machinery equipment, and advanced power equipment, and five special sectors – unmanned aerial vehicles and general aviation equipment, smart elevators, sensors and instrumentation, smart power transmission and transformation equipment, and inland river vessels.
