According to the statistics from the market supervision bureau of Liangjiang New Area, from Feb 9 to 17, the new area received a total of 549,600 tourist visits, indicating a whopping year-on-year increase of 112 percent.
Liangjiang's tourism revenue also saw a surge of 40 percent during the Spring Festival holiday. Its wide variety of nighttime economy activities includes night tours, dining experiences, performances, and shopping.
On the first day of the Chinese New Year, Chongqing Happy Valley presented an iron flower hitting show, a traditional intangible cultural heritage. Molten iron at 1500 C was thrown into the sky, resembling shooting stars. These performers danced with dragons amidst the iron flowers, wowing audiences.
At Liangjiang International Movie City, a large-scale nighttime landscape performance was organized to showcase Chongqing's development over the last century, allowing tourists to experience the charm of Bayu culture up close. The movie city replicated numerous old Chongqing buildings, and visitors immersed themselves in the old streets.
Chongqing Garden Expo Park has introduced a series of cultural packages consisting of Lunar New Year flower expos, folk cultural performances, and intangible cultural heritage markets. This has created a festive atmosphere and driving force for comprehensive consumption.
Data showed that from the first to the eighth day of the first lunar month, the expo park received a total of 388,000 visitors, leading to a 44-percent increase in business revenue.
