At the Xinzhi factory in Liangjiang New Area, industrial robots, mechanical arms, and high-speed precision punch presses are busy handling a variety of tasks. As a top motor supplier in China, Xinzhi opened its Liangjiang factory this May as an R&D and manufacturing base for NEV motors.

Xinzhi plans to develop the factory into a lighthouse factory and use it to serve local carmakers, including prominent NEV brands such as Changan and SERES. The company expects the factory to achieve an annual production of 3 million motors and enhance the local industrial chain of intelligent connected NEVs, a key sector in Liangjiang's development of strategic emerging industries.

The intelligent connected NEV sector has been growing rapidly over the past few years in Liangjiang. Many leading industry players like Xinzhi have set up operations in the new area, forming a complete industrial chain. Meanwhile, local authorities have released a series of supportive policies and guided carmakers to shift towards electrification and intelligent automation.

In the first quarter of 2024, the intelligent connected NEV sector in the new area registered a year-on-year 66.2 percent increase in output value and a 24.9 percent increase in output volume.

In 2022, Liangjiang New Area rolled out an action plan for strategic emerging industries to develop in a more innovative, profitable, and sustainable way.

The action plan includes accelerating the development of future industries, where the aerospace and energy storage sectors are the major fields.

In the aerospace information industry, the new materials sector is undergoing rapid growth as titanium alloy, superhard materials, and carbon-based film industrial clusters take shape.

Chongqing Kingsley Aeronautical Materials Technology is one of China's top companies that specializes in advanced titanium and high-temperature alloys for aerospace, shipbuilding, and other industries. The company is capable of comprehensive solutions from high-end titanium alloy manufacturing to inspection, according to Liu Liangliang, the company's general manager.

Spearheaded by top companies like Kingsley, over 130 enterprises in the aerospace information industry have set up operations in the new area, and the scale of the industry exceeds 3.5 billion yuan ($493.5 million).

The new area is currently making efforts to extend the industrial chain, optimize application scenarios, and improve the industrial ecosystem, aiming to foster a beacon of innovation for the aerospace information industry, said Pi Tao, deputy secretary of the Chongqing Liangjiang New Area Party Work Committee.

In 2023, Liangjiang's strategic emerging industries registered an output value exceeding 257 billion yuan, up 5.6 percent year-on-year. The figures grew to over 60 billion yuan and 18.2 percent, respectively, in the first quarter of 2024.
